Welcome to the first edition of the Centre of Research Excellence in Suicide Prevention (CRESP) newsletter for 2016.

In this issue we feature the generous $14.7m donation from the Paul Ramsay Foundation to trial the Systems Approach to Suicide Prevention. CRESP and the Black Dog Institute are thrilled to be the recipients of the first donation ever made by the Foundation, and we are excited to report on the project’s progress to date.

We also detail new accredited training for health professionals; provide an update on CRESP research projects; outline ongoing contributions from the Lived Experience Committee; and congratulate the winners of our CRESP Best Research Paper Awards 2015 and the winners (to date) of the CRESP Travel Grants 2015.

Two CRESP members have also contributed articles related to their research work outside of CRESP. A/Prof Grahame Simpson writes about his work in suicide prevention among people, primarily veterans, with Traumatic Brain Injury, while Dr Keith Harris discusses measurement of suicidality.
